Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Jar of Paper???
A: Yeah - so that goes back all the way to the late 20th century when I was all filled with angst and not sure what to do with myself (if you've ever seen Reality Bites, just picture Winona Ryder's character). I wrote:
have you ever thought of screaming into a glass jar and sealing it up quickly? saving it for later? capturing its beauty and fluidity as you would a butterfly's? wouldn't it be marvelous if we could capture emotions and hold on to them like that, until we came to a place where we could experience them more fully? call on them like magic potions, adding a bit of this and that for just the right creation? maybe that's what poems are. bits of emotion, saved in a jar of paper, ready to experience anytime.
So there was that. This was before everything was on the internet. Things were still mostly printed on paper. But this glass screen you sit before now - a glass that holds everything that used to be on paper... it is a jar of paper, too. And this jar of paper holds the things that I do.
Q: Poems?
A: Yup... I like to write poetry now and then. I still think that there is something magical and transformative about poetry that I just don't experience in prose. It's like a puzzle with no edges that each person will put together differently, and there is no wrong solution. What's not magical about that?
Q: From Permission Slips - Why ninjas?
A: Ninjas are cool. I know that the Samurai were the honorable caste. Ninjas were covert, mercenary. They waged irregular warfare. In that way, the Ninja seems like just the thing to overcome the Committee Responsible for Assigning Meaning and Provoking Shame. The Permission Slip Ninja says, "Oh yeah?? Well take THAT, Committee."
Q: Committee Responsible for what??
A: Well, you really just need to read my book. Look up there. ^^ There at the top. Where it says SHOP BOOKS... click it. You can read the intro for free and buy a copy of Permission Slips: Essential Tools for a Vibrant Life. The Kindle version is just $0.99 - but I have a feeling you're going to want to hold this one in your hands. ;)
Q: So you're kind of all over the place with your social media, aren't you?
A: Yes... the journey here was windy*. I started a blog and named it We Hold The Space (as in: We hold the space for each other to learn and grow when we keep our hearts and our minds open). You can find my blog up at the top of this page. So that is the name of the page on Facebook where I sometimes post: We Hold The Space. They (THE MAN over at FB) won't let me change the name. They say it would be confusing to my followers. Whatever. You're totally smart enough to figure it out.
You can find me on Instagram as casey.inspired. Instagram is my favorite.
If you're on twitter, you can follow me @namaste2u - this is usually a duplicate of my Insta feed. I know that drives some people batty, and that's okay. I don't judge.
Life is sloppy and so is my social media presence. This is why I just throw it all into this Jar of Paper. ;-) ;-)
*windy is a great word because it's a homograph. It can be twisty or breezy. Take your pick. The journey was both.
